PPUPA undergraduate conference

Hey everyone:

I received this e-mail and thought it would be good to post it here. Although it doesn’t mention the location of the conference in this letter, it’s being held at the University of Lethbridge (I assume it’s the one in Calgary). The letter I received also doesn’t mention who the keynote speaker is, but if I find out I’ll post it on the blog.

A bunch of us went down last year, and (minus a lame party) it was a lot of fun. I would encourage any undergrads to send in a submission and check it out. We also got our entire trip paid for by the arts and philosophy department, so I imagine other people could do the same if the went and talked to some people about getting funding.

November 18, 2008

Greetings everyone,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting this information out.

Attached is information for the upcoming PPUPA (Prairie Province Undergrad Philosophy Association Conference) Call for Papers which is currently planned for March 21 – 22, 2009. If there are indications that this date is unacceptable there is the possibility that we may be able to move it to the weekend either before or after.

The keynote of the conference will focus on religion and metaphysics. This topic will address the high value placed on all religious or spiritual views and the deep need for some kind of metaphysic to support such a view.

The Call for Papers deadline is January 3, 2009. Undergraduates are encouraged to present papers on all topics. Abstracts must be submitted so that similar topics can be grouped into sessions. Forward abstracts to: Cliff Baum at cliff.baum@uleth.ca

Further details will follow as they become available.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Sincerely,

Cliff Baum
